Toddler Birthday Party in Ocean City NJ at The Yard
First birthday, second birthday, the big three: little kids do not need a ballroom or a bounce house rental. They need somewhere safe to climb, a table for cake, and grown-ups close by. That is exactly what The Yard at 741 West Ave in Ocean City, NJ was built for. Here is how we would plan a toddler or preschool birthday with us this winter.
Why The Yard works for the littlest guests
- Under the Net (ages 1+): ground-level access to the property and our yard games. Good for one-year-olds and anyone not ready to climb.
- Sky Net (ages 2+): more than 3,000 square feet of suspended nets and obstacles, plus everything Under the Net includes.
- Kids under 3 must have a parent with them in the net, so the grown-ups get to play too.
- Up to 2 parents or guardians are included with each paid participant.
Activities are geared toward ages 2 to 10, and the youngest crowd has a blast on the nets.
Two ways to party
The Yard lists two party options on its birthday parties page:
- Public party, starting at $220 for 10 kids. Your own reserved table at The Yard during one of our open play sessions. It is the most budget-friendly way to celebrate.
- Private party, starting at $750 for up to 60 people. The Yard is all yours, with two hours of private access to the facilities.
Winter timing: Wednesday mornings or a private date
This winter, open play runs on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, so that is the window for a public party table. Toddlers are at their best in the morning anyway. There is also an optional music class from 9:00 to 9:30 AM before open play, which you can book on The Yard's Calendar of Events. Our Wednesday open play guide covers how those mornings work.

Want a stress-free party? Add the party package upgrade. Packages are priced by party size and start at $180. They include:
- Pizza and cake
- Drinks: water, soda, and juice boxes
- Plates, cups, and napkins
- Decorations: tablecloths and a personalized welcome sign
- Setup and cleanup
How to plan it, step by step
- Pick your party type. A public party table during Wednesday open play, or a private party on the date you want.
- Count your kids and their ages. Note who will climb the Sky Net (2+) and who will stay Under the Net (1+).
- Call or email to reserve. Reach The Yard at 609-398-3345 or TheYard@OCNJwatersports.com, and ask about the party package upgrade.

- Get waivers done early. A signed waiver is required for every guest, and a parent or guardian signs for minors.
What to tell parents to bring
- Warm layers, hats, and gloves. The Sky Net is outdoors, and winter mornings at the shore can be chilly.
- Clothes kids (and grown-ups) can climb in, plus sneakers or other closed-toe shoes.
- A change of clothes and wipes for the toddlers.
- A phone for photos of the birthday kid up in the nets.
