Wednesday Toddler Open Play at The Yard in Ocean City NJ
Weekends at The Yard have wrapped up for 2026, but the nets are not empty all winter. Every Wednesday morning, 741 West Ave opens for open play from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Little ones can start even earlier with an optional music class from 9 to 9:30 AM. If you have a toddler or preschooler in Ocean City who needs to burn off energy midweek, this is the slot built for you.
Here is how a Wednesday at The Yard works, from the crew that runs it.
The Wednesday schedule
- 9:00 to 9:30 AM: optional music class. Sing, move, and warm up before the nets open.
- 9:30 to 11:30 AM: open play. Two hours on the property, with yard games under the net and climbing up on the Sky Net.
The music class is optional. Come for both or just the open play. Classes and special events are posted on The Yard's Calendar of Events, and you can book them there.
Who can play
The Yard is geared toward kids ages 2 to 10, and Wednesday mornings work especially well for the youngest crowd. Here are the age rules as listed on theyardocnj.com/the-yard:
- Under the Net (ages 1+): access to the property and the yard games.
- Sky Net (ages 2+): climb up into more than 3,000 square feet of suspended nets, plus everything Under the Net includes.
- Kids under 3 must have a parent with them in the net.
- Parents and guardians: up to 2 are included with a paid participant.
Current admission is listed on The Yard page: $15 for an Under the Net child and $25 for a Sky Net participant per 2-hour session. Confirm rates when you book.
What to bring on a Wednesday morning
- Warm layers and a hat. The Sky Net is outdoors, so dress for the weather in layers you can peel off once the climbing starts.
- Clothes they can climb in. Think leggings or joggers and comfortable tops, not dress-up outfits.
- A change of clothes and wipes for the little ones.
- A signed waiver. A waiver is required for every guest, and a parent or guardian signs for minors. Take care of it ahead of time so you are not filling it out at the gate.
- A plan to show up at 9:00 if you are doing the music class, so you are settled before it starts.
Tips from our crew
- Do music first, then climb. Toddlers who have already been singing and moving tend to head straight into the nets.
- Climb with your under-3. A parent has to be in the net with kids under 3, so wear something you can crawl in too.
- Book ahead. Booking online saves you time at check-in on a cold morning.
