Indoor Golf in Ocean City NJ: Private Simulator Night

Summer crowds are gone, the evenings are getting cooler, and the golf buddies still want to play. In Ocean City, the indoor answer is at 741 West Ave. The Yard's sports simulator is Ocean City's only Full Swing golf and sports simulator, and you can book it by the hour or take over the private space for a BYOB night with your group.

What the simulator actually is

The Yard's own site calls Full Swing the most realistic golf simulation software in the industry. The bay lets you virtually play more than 50 world-famous courses. If half your group doesn't golf, the same bay runs 20+ other games and sports, including soccer, football, baseball, lacrosse, and dodgeball. There's seating in the space for whoever isn't up.

It's indoors, so wind off the bay and a cold October night don't matter.

Two ways to book it

As listed on theyardocnj.com/sports-simulator right now:

• Simulator bay by the hour - up to 6 people. 1 hour is $70, 2 hours is $140, 3 hours is $210.
• Private space rental (BYOB) - up to 12 people, 7:30 to 9:30 PM, $199.

Which one fits your group

• A foursome that wants a real round: book the bay for 2 or 3 hours. Eighteen holes with four players takes time, so don't squeeze it into one.
• A couple or a small group trying it out: 1 hour is enough to hit balls and try a few of the other games.
• A bigger crew (7 to 12): the private BYOB rental is the move. Think golf league night, a birthday for a grown-up, an office outing, or a friends' weekend after the beach closes.

Good to know before you go

• The simulator is its own booking. It doesn't include the outdoor Sky Net or the yard area, and a Sky Net ticket doesn't include the simulator.
• The Yard is open 7 days a week, but slots vary by day. Check the calendar for the day you want instead of walking in.
• BYOB applies to the private space rental as listed. If you have questions about what you can bring, food, or your own clubs, call 609-398-3345 before your night.
• The Yard Cafe pours La Colombe coffee and espresso. Ask if it's running during your slot.

What to bring

• Comfortable shoes and clothes you can swing in
• Drinks for a private BYOB night, plus snacks if your group gets hungry
• Your booking confirmation and an ID for the person who booked
• A scorecard bet. Someone's buying breakfast tomorrow.
